50 Most Authoritative Mommy Blogs in India 2020 (Plus a list of 150+blogs)

Why a list of mommy blogs in India?

Indian Mom bloggers are a powerful voice and mom blogs are an important tool to influence moms. Their blogs act as a trusted source of information to many fellow mothers who look up to them. Also, mommy bloggers are very valuable to brands and internet marketers. As we looked up, there were not many resources that identified Indian mommy bloggers. So, such a list could be helpful to both new mommy bloggers who are looking up to others for inspiration (and networking) and also for internet marketers. Most of the lists of Indian mom blogs published on the internet included 10-20 top mommy blogs. There are two longer lists that are available, one by Shewta (2017) and the other by Menaka (2018).

However, the major limitation of most such lists was that the blogs were either chosen or ranked arbitrarily. We also came across a Quora question recently asking for a list of Indian mommy bloggers. That is when we felt that there is a need for an extensive list and we should try and make one for you all. We also thought that only a comprehensive list of mommy blogs in India with an objective inclusion and ranking criteria could fill this void. Therefore, we featured the top 50 Indian mommy blogs followed by a complete list of another 150+ mommy blogs in 2020 which was very well received. We have updated the list now in 2020. Any suggestion (for inclusion or exclusion), any corrections, or otherwise may be pointed out in the comments section.

Who is a mommy blogger?

YourDictionary defines mommy blogger as ”A mother who blogs about her children, motherhood, parenting or related topics”. Wikipedia defines Mommy blogs as ” blogs authored by women that are writing about family and motherhood”. Generally, most mothers who take up blogging do so to share their journey of pregnancy and motherhood. In the process, many of them transform into talented writers and focus on changing their content over time. An Onalytica study showed that mom bloggers blog on a wide range of topics. These include Money Saving, Travel, Food, Parenting, Home and Interior Design, Babies, Education, Health and Wellness, Pregnancy, Mental Health, etc. in that order. However, the term ‘mom blogger’  is used many times to cover moms that blog and even occasionally mention their child or parenting topics in their blog! Is that fair? Janice D’Arcy, in her post, pointed out that some mommy bloggers find the term demeaning and condescending, whereas others found it okay. So, we tried to keep all these in mind.

How did we do it? 

How did we identify mom blogs?

We identified mom blogs from various sources on the internet. This included Facebook groups, blog directories, previously published lists, etc. Then we filtered the list as per our objective criteria.

We used the following criteria to keep a blog on the mommy blog list.

1. A mother blogging on any niche that also significantly included parenting in her blogs.
2. We excluded blogs run by companies, online communities, and e-commerce stores even if it was founded and run by mothers.
3. We only included Indian mom bloggers who owned a blog of their own. What it means is that we did not include freelance mom bloggers. We also did not include blogs that are not based in India.
4. We could not open some blogs because it was either closed or domain registration expired or the blog had restricted access. We did not include these blogs on our list.

How did we rank them?

Most previous lists ranked blogs arbitrarily. To improve upon this we chose to rank sites based on Domain Authority (DA), which is an accepted measure of quantifying one’s website relative importance as a whole. In other words, you can say DA is accepted as a surrogate for how ‘authoritative’ a blog is. We must say that DA is neither a measure of popularity or traffic to a blog nor is it a measure of influencer potential for the blogger. Therefore, even though we have ranked the blogs in decreasing order of Domain Authority, one should not take it as a definitive measurement of influence or quality of the blog. Our objective is to make a list available to aspiring Indian mom bloggers and internet marketers in an acceptable order and not to rank them. Domain authority was taken by using the Moz Bar.
