10 DIY Projects That You Can Easily Repeat With Your Child in the Backyard

July 16, 2020 by Betty Olsen Leave a Comment

Often parents find it difficult to look for a common ground of interest with their children to spend time with. These DIY projects help your child to culminate the creative side of his/her personality  In this article we will see 10 such easy DIYs.

Most of us parents do not entertain the idea of DIY projects simply because we don’t want to undertake a task we are not sure of. But we have brought to you the easiest and most fun DIY projects for kids that you can help them with. These activities can be accomplished simply with the essential tools for home. Surprised, aren’t you? Read on to find out those exciting DIYs.

1. Rock Painting

Paint rocks with your kids, giving the rocks the look of toys. Take appropriately shaped rocks to color – for instance, use a rectangular one to paint as a truck. Use acrylic colors. Let the imagination of your kid’s spill and let them go into all Picasso mode. This is one of the very easy DIY projects and will ensure you spend a great time with your kid.

However, paints can be very dangerous if consumed and hence it is recommended to be very careful if your kid is really young.

2. Flower Making

Teach your child to make flowers out of paper. Making flowers is extremely easy and with a little patience, your child will definitely master this before other equally cool DIY projects.

Encourage them by displaying their handmade flowers in your living room or bedroom. All you will need are some colorful paper, scissors, school glue, and twigs or thin stripes and you are ready to go.

3. Doll House

Making a dollhouse is one of the easiest DIY wood projects that children can undertake but of course with your supervision. Together you can assemble all the wooden planks and give them your authentic signature shape. You can later use fabric or paint to make it look all the more chirpy and colorful.

A dollhouse can java a lot of varieties and you can incorporate as many features as you want. Once the house is ready, you can also make the props with your little one and then decorate the house as you wish.

4. Backyard Race Track

Kids love to hold races among the cars they own. Make that bundle of joy happier and create a race track out in the backyard. These backyard DIY projects can be immensely helpful for children to keep up their spirits during the holidays.

You can build these tracks with practically anything at hand, so be creative and do as you like it.

5. Make a Boat

Among other DIY woodworking projects, the boat is a very popular one among kids. Grab your supplies and build a small boat for your kid’s imaginary adventures.

Stack the boat with your child’s toys and let it be his/her hideout.

6. A Tree House

If you and your little munchkin feel a little more ambitious, go for a small treehouse. Though this will require a little more expertise on the parent’s part. But if accomplished, it is gonna be the coolest thing for your kid.

In case you are confident to venture into this, substitute it with a small wooden fort in the garden itself. This one is much easier and can be achieved with minimum effort. Give it a more rustic look than polished. Decorate the inside with toys and a hammock. Kids love that touch of the nomadic.

7. Outdoor Lounge

One of the DIY outward projects is the outdoor lounge that can be really useful for the kids in the summer and is super easy to make. All you will need is a kid’s pool and some cushions. Line the pool with covers or blankets and throw in some outdoor cushions.

It can be great for the kids to host their pool parties with the toys and of course, your pet is going to find this outdoor lounge too comfortable. This is practically the easiest DIY you will ever come across. What are you waiting for? Go grab that kid’s pool and cushions.

8. Tire Swing

Tire swings are a hit with kids and are really easy to make. Is there anyone who will oppose these claims? No, right? This is one of the best and cheap DIY projects for your home. Get any tire and appropriate chains to turn it into a swing.

Once it is made, you can either keep it plain or can also paint it with vibrant colors and patterns. Make cheetah print, a smiley, honeycomb pattern, or anything that your little kid wants to.

Do check from time to time, the wear and tear of the tire.

9. Pottery

Make clay pots with your child and use them for different purposes such as gardening or decoration. Yes, we are aware that it is going to be a messy affair but trust us you are so gonna have the time of your life.

Come on, we parents as children have always wanted to do pottery in the backyard. Let us deprive our children of this exciting DIY. After the pots are made, indulge in coloring them as well.

10. Bird Water Bowl

Make a vibrant and beautiful water bowl for the birds. In this way, you not only indulge in an activity with your kid but this particular act also impresses upon them the importance of taking care of birds and animals. It will only enrich them as better human beings.

You can also give it the shape of a house in which birds can sometimes come and rest. Ask your child to change the water when required and also clean it frequently.

These easy and cheap DIY home projects can be accomplished with almost no cost and include all the things that you already have at home. Don’t wonder anymore as to how to spend time with your little one. Make your and your kid’s day happening. Share with us your valuable comments and feel free to raise questions, if any.
